In 1975, 14-year-old Nguyễn Gia Cứ, a native of Quảng Trị, was hit by a bomblet from a cluster bomb that left permanent scars on his body. It wasn't until his middle age, after explosive remnants were cleared near his home, that he began to hear a different sound from them, the sound of humanitarianism. Since 1999, Mines Advisory Group has been clearing unexploded ordnance from the Vietnam War in central Vietnam, a field traditionally dominated by men. But an all-female team is changing the game, not only because their own families have also suffered from UXO, but to make sure that what happened to Cứ never happens to anyone else.
